About Alexis Grace
Memphis songstress Alexis Grace made her national debut on season eight of American Idol, the long-running reality pop stardom series, where Simon Cowell called her the "dark horse of the competition." But long before – and long since – she's been a stalwart ambassador of the "Memphis School" of music. As the daughter of a Beale Street R&B musician, she grew up with the music of Aretha Franklin and Ann Peebles on heavy rotation. Youth choir at church locked in her gospel harmonies; and with formal jazz and opera training from Overton High School – a prestigious performing arts magnet – and the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis, there’s no doubt why the readers of The Memphis Flyer named her the “Best Local Singer of 2023”.
Since American Idol, the singer-songwriter made her 2015 recording debut with an EP "Kiddo" and her sophomore album drops in 2024. She's also backed national artists such as Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Darius Rucker. With personality and charm to match the music, she's rounded the other Memphis entertainment bases, as well. For several years, Alexis hosted the No. 1 rated mid-day Top 40 radio show in Memphis on Q107.5 WHBQ-FM. She's been a featured actress in the Hallmark movie "Wedding at Graceland," a Fall Out Boy music video, the Netflix series "Trailer Park Boys" and national commercials. The occasional musical theater role at Playhouse on the Square and Theatre Memphis keeps her motivated for new avenues to explore her gifts. But whether performing solo or in groups, from Los Angeles to Branson, Mo., Alexis remains true to her musical roots: a Memphis girl with a voice steeped in the soul of the city.
